Access keys



How to use access keys

We have added access keys to the site to help you navigate it. Where possible we have used the UK Government Accesskeys system. We have also added extra ones that apply to our site only.

Different browsers use access keys in different ways. Below is the list of how to make them work.

Browsers for PCs

Firefox 1.5: Hold down the ALT key and press the number/letter of the access key.
Firefox 2+: Hold down the SHIFT key and the ALT key and then press the number/letter of the access key.
Internet Explorer 4: Hold down the ALT key and press the number/letter of the access key.
Internet Explorer 5+: Hold down the ALT key, press the number/letter of the access key, release both keys then press ENTER.
Netscape earlier versions: Access keys are not supported.
Netscape 6+: Hold down the ALT key and select the number/letter of the access key.
Netscape 7: Hold down the ALT key and press the number/letter of the access key.
Opera 9: Hold SHIFT and the ESC key and the list of access keys will appear.

Browsers for Macs

Firefox 1.5: Hold down the CTRL key and press the number/letter of the access key.
Firefox 2: Hold down the SHIFT key and the ALT key and then press the number/letter of the access key.
Internet Explorer 4.5: Access keys are not supported.
Internet Explorer 5+: Hold down the CTRL key and press the number/letter of the access key.
Opera 9: Hold SHIFT and the ESC key and the list of access keys will appear.
Safari: Hold down the CTRL key and press the number/letter of the access key.
