Bristol Bowmen and
Golden Phoenix Archers

After completing the beginners' course, everyone must, if they wish to continue shooting, join the club.

In line with the sport's governing body, Archery GB (also known as the Grand National Archery Society (GNAS)), membership runs from 1 October to 30 September each year. The fees reduce throughout the year, so when you join determines how much you will pay. The following table is for the year October 2011 to September 2012.

Oct to Dec Jan to Mar Apr to Jun Jul to Sep

Bristol Bowmen adults £133.00 £99.75 £66.50 £33.25
Golden Phoenix adults £84.00 £63.00 £42.00 £21.00
Bristol Bowmen juniors
(Under 18 years of age)
£50.00 £37.50 £25.00 £12.50
Golden Phoenix juniors
(Under 18 years of age)
£42.00 £31.50 £21.00 £10.50
Family discount At least one adult and one child from the same family – £5.00 reduction in the Junior fee.

For members renewing as of 1 October each year, payment may be split over four months:

  • Bristol Bowmen adults – one x £70.00 (to cover outgoing fees, see below), then three x £21.00.
  • Golden Phoenix adults – four x £21.00.
  • Bristol Bowmen juniors – one x £18.50 (towards outgoing fees, see below), then three x £10.50.
  • Golden Phoenix juniors – four x £10.50.

Please note, if you choose to pay by monthly installments and then miss a payment you risk having your membership suspended until all the outstanding monies are paid. In addition if you renew the following year, you will not be allowed to pay by installments.

You may pay by bank transfer. For details contact the treasurer, Dave Fullerton, on 0117 964 6643, or via email treasurer@bristolanddisabledarchers.org.uk.

You may shoot as often as you like outdoors and at our winter weekly indoor sessions at no extra cost. See the club days page for days and times when we shoot.

Please note, the reason that the fees for Bristol Bowmen are higher than for Golden Phoenix is because members of a disabled club do not pay county, region and national fees. The adult outgoings are the exact amount that we pay out, the junior outgoings are only a proportion towards the amount we pay for a junior club.

To become an associate member you must hold full GNAS or FITA membership through another club or be a direct member. The first time you shoot with us you must bring your GNAS membership card, or if you live abroad, your governing body's membership card, with you. For insurance reasons we cannot let you shoot without it.

We offer three types of associate membership:

Annual associate membership

For anyone who wishes to join us with the intention of shooting with us regularly. This gives you full and equal rights within the club including, should you so wish, to stand for committee positions.

  • Fees – As per Golden Phoenix Archers (see above).

You may shoot as often as you like, both outdoors and indoors, at no extra cost. For details of our shooting times please see the Club days page.

You will need you to complete both the membership application form and two copies of the membership health form (see below). There are guidance notes to help you complete the health form.

The health forms are in strict confidence and are kept in locked cabinets at both our indoor and outdoor venue. They will only be used if an emergency occurs and may be passed to medical staff if they are called to the scene.

Monthly associate membership

This will give you full shooting rights for the duration of your time with us, including allowing you to take part in any club event or competition. Membership will run for one calendar month from the date of your first shoot and is ideal for students home for the holidays or anyone temporarily working or studying in the area.

  • Adults – £7.50.
  • Juniors – £5.00.

You may shoot as often as you like, both outdoors and indoors, at no extra cost. For details of our shooting times please see the Club days page.

For details of eligibility and exceptions, please see the membership section of our policies page.

General associate membership

For any archer who does not live locally and will not be shooting regularly with us, but who would like to belong to the club. This category of membership entitles you to half boss fees (see below) for a maximum of two weeks in any calendar month.

  • Fees – £20 per year (1 October to 30 September).

For details of our shooting times please see the Club days page.

For details of eligibility and exceptions, please see the membership section of our policies page.

We welcome visiting archers. Please remember to bring your GNAS membership card, or if you live abroad, your governing body's membership card, with you. For insurance reasons we cannot let you shoot without it.

If you will be in the area for four weeks or more, you may find that it is more cost effective to take up monthly associate membership (see above).

Per session boss fees

  • Adult outdoor – £2.00.
  • Junior outdoor – £1.00.
  • Adult indoor – £5.00.
  • Junior indoor – £2.50.
